RB and Jenny Fitch were captivated by their stays at Relais & Châteaux properties in Europe and in the U.S. During a stay at a small Relais property in New York’s Adirondack Mountains, the Fitches chatted with the Innkeeper who explained in depth what Relais stood for and what it meant for them to be a member and an idea was born. In the mid-1980s, the Fitches went to Paris to seek Relais membership for the Fearrington House Restaurant, only to be told they did not qualify since at that time, only properties featuring both a restaurant and inn would be considered. “So we built an inn,” said RB. The Inn was constructed in 1986, and in 1988, The Fearrington House Inn and Restaurant became members of Relais & Châteaux.
The Fearrington House Inn offers a long list of amenities and access to beautifully crafted courtyard gardens. Because every inn room has a unique layout and design, some amenities may be specific to a room category and not universally available. Our highest room category offers king beds and fireplace, plus additional upgrades like larger sitting rooms, bathrooms and bedrooms, walk-in closets, separate jetted tub and shower. Several have their own private gardens with sitting areas.
This upper tier room category offers a luxurious bedroom with a king bed and a spacious bathroom. Rooms also boast a separate living room area and more space for you and your guests.
A step up from our standard accommodations, a deluxe room boasts a separate lounge space or nook, in addition to a bedroom with a king, queen or two double beds. Many have delightful views of our gardens.

Regardless of the room you choose, room amenities include restorative Kingsdown pillowtop featherbeds, plush 300 thread count sateen Egyptian cotton bed linens, Boca Terry robes, iPod docking stations, flat screen televisions and safes. Fresh flowers, many cut from our own gardens, and a bowl of fresh apples, await. Bathrooms feature heated towel racks and Frette bath towels.
Raised in a family of hoteliers, Theresa learned the intricacies of managing luxury hotels in both Europe and the Caribbean from a very early age. After earning a degree in Hospitality Management from the University of Central Florida, Theresa spent several years at properties in the US and Europe including the prestigious Rafael Hotel in Munich. Theresa has been with The Fearrington House since 2000.
