A few weeks ago, we noticed that one of the front porch posts at The Fearrington House needed a bit of attention. Rather than simply repair it, we decided to take the opportunity to give her a proper spring refresh.
One post led to another project — reinforcing and replacing where needed — followed by a full power wash, fresh paint, and finally a thorough window washing. The result? She is looking absolutely spectacular. Crisp, polished, and ready for the year ahead — just in time for Chef Gagné’s vibrant spring menu.
Spring is my favorite season in the dining room. The plates feel alive — not just with flavor and texture, but with color. Artichokes (a personal favorite), hamachi, asparagus… and Chef isn’t quite finished yet. More dishes are being introduced this week, each celebrating the brightness and renewal of the season.
And of course, Raquel has been busy behind the bar. I sampled the Irish Maid, and it was the perfect refreshing cocktail for a warm spring evening on the porch — light, balanced, and exactly what this season calls for.
The gardens are blooming, the porch is glowing, and the menus are bursting with energy. Come by and visit — you will not be disappointed.
