Ten years ago, at a trade show in New York, Daneen and I met a designer whose work we already deeply admired — Hinson Wu.
Before launching his own label, Hinson had been the creative force behind a brand we loved called Paperwhite. During his time there, he helped expand the collection from its original focus on crisp white shirts into a full line of beautifully tailored separates — always anchored in a clean, refined aesthetic. His attention to detail and proportion immediately stood out. When he saw him at the trade show, he was just introducing his own namesake line and we were thrilled to bring it to Dovecote.
From the beginning, Hinson’s philosophy centered on reimagining the “perfect white shirt.” In his hands, a classic becomes elevated. The collar sits just so. The buttons are precisely placed. The cuff shape is thoughtful. His refined cotton blends — often with just the right touch of stretch — deliver structure without stiffness. The tailoring is unmatched. Over the years, the collection has grown beautifully. What started with signature shirting — including the beloved Aileen shirt — has expanded into elegant dresses, impeccably cut separates, knitwear made from his signature “Dreamy Yarn,” structured jackets, and now… something new for fall: satins. Fluid, refined, and incredibly modern. Having just previewed his Fall collection, we can confidently say you are going to love what’s coming.
This year marks Hinson Wu’s 10-year anniversary, and we are honored to celebrate this milestone with him.
We are delighted to share that Hinson himself will be joining us on property this Saturday for a special trunk show at Dovecote Style.
