Homestead Grenache Blend 2019

BIG BASIN VINEYARDS

A vibrant Grenache-based blend from California’s Central Coast, this wine highlights organic fruit with aromas of plum, raspberry, and dried flowers layered with spice and subtle oak. Lively acidity and fine structure make it approachable now and promising for graceful aging.

______

Troy Revell: “The balance of fruit, spice, and structure makes it both food-friendly and cellar-worthy. It’s a bottle I love to pour now, but it has the backbone to reward patience too.”

‘Les Cocottes’ Fleurie 2023

ANNE-SOPHIE DUBOIS

This vibrant 100% Gamay from Beaujolais is pure joy in a glass. Bursting with cherries, raspberries, and plum skin, it’s lifted by savory notes of black tea, earth, and a whisper of stony minerality. Made using semi-carbonic maceration—a nod to traditional Beaujolais methods—it’s bright, juicy, and effortlessly drinkable while still offering the nuance and depth Anne-Sophie Dubois is celebrated for.

______

Special note from Troy Revell: “Les Cocottes is the kind of wine that makes you smile—it’s playful and juicy, but there’s a real elegance underneath. Chill it slightly on a warm evening, and it’s absolute magic with charcuterie or roasted chicken.”

Dune and Mountain Pinot Noir

BIG BASIN

Just received from Monterey, Central Coast, California: the 2021 Dune and Mountain Pinot Noir is a very pretty, aromatic wine. Crushed flowers, dried red cherry fruit, sage, tobacco and cedar are beautifully delineated.

______

Special note from Troy Revell: "I visited Big Basin in 2012 and have always been impressed by their productions. Very unique and hidden little site at the end of a lonely Santa Cruz mountain road. Owner Bradley Brown built his house at the top of the hill, and while the vineyards were spared, he lost that house during the 2020 wildfire season, so we enjoy supporting his recovery!"

“Contadina” Cabernet

BURGESS

Burgess “Contadina” Carbenet - A structured and elegant Cabernet Sauvignon with aromas and flavors of blackberry and ripe black currants. The lush fruit is brought into balance by high tone herbal aromatics of mint, sage, and sweet tobacco. The distinctively thick-skinned Cabernet grapes provide a long, velvety finish.

______

Special note from Troy: "Traditional Napa producer, elegant style that's drinking beautifully, 2018 is a back vintage, this one is a steal! I picked up several cases, but get it while you can as it won't be available again. When it's down to 1 bottle I'm buying the last one."

'Reserve' Cabernet Franc

BARBOURSVILLE

Special note from Troy: "As much as any producer, Barboursville has played a pivotal role in putting Virginia on the map as a wine region. Their wines beautifully balance New World and Old World styles, and the Cabernet Franc is a perfect example of that. Fresh notes of blackberry, dried herbs, and cranberry shine upfront, while layers of earth, compote, and a hint of licorice add depth and intrigue. With a medium-bodied, versatile structure, this wine is as refined as it is approachable."
