This is a classic expression of Nebbiolo from Barolo led by notes of violet and tar on the nose with bright red cherry and grippy, persistent tannins on the palate. An excellent entry to Northern Italy if you have yet to try Barolo, the "King" of Italian wine.
"Lecinquevigne" refers to the five vineyards where the Nebbiolo grape for Barolo is harvested. Damilano is one of the oldest wineries in Barolo. The family business dates back to 1890 when Giuseppe Borgogno started cultivating and producing wine from the grapes from his own vineyards.
Nebbiolo from this region is known for walking a tightrope between high-energy, ripe red fruit, high tannin, and delicate aromatics. This is an intense wine with many layers to dive into. Enjoy with earthy, rich pasta or any juicy steak.
