Savory, aromatic and nicely structured, this 100% Cabernet Franc shows raspberry, blackcurrant and dark cherry with violet, graphite, tobacco and a gentle herbal edge. Medium-bodied with fresh acidity and smooth, moderate tannins, it offers plenty of depth without becoming heavy.
Souther Williams Vineyard is a family-owned estate in Fletcher, North Carolina, within the Crest of the Blue Ridge Henderson County AVA. The vineyard focuses on cooler-climate varieties suited to the higher elevations of the western North Carolina mountains, including Cabernet Franc alongside several Austrian and Eastern European grapes.
The 2018 earned a Silver Medal at the 2023 NC Fine Wines Competition and now has several years of bottle age behind it, allowing the fruit, tannin and savory notes to come together beautifully. It is a strong example of dry, medium-bodied North Carolina red wine, showing both mountain freshness and the naturally perfumed character of Cabernet Franc.
