For more than a decade, visitors to Fearrington Village were often greeted not only by a salesperson, a neighbor, or a sign — but also by Luna. Since 2009, Luna served as the unofficial ambassador, office companion, walking partner, and welcoming committee for countless people discovering the village for the first time. She had a remarkable gift for making everyone feel immediately at home....

HOW IT STARTED

In the latter part of 2009 residents started reporting a beige shadow flitting through the trees. Not a tiny deer, but a tiny Luna, lost and very, very frightened. Laura Morgan, whose heart knows no bounds when it comes to animals, trapped and adopted her. Their friendship was fast and deep.

THROUGHTOUT THE YEARS

Luna's peaceful and kind spirit quickly made her the ideal office dog. Whenever a salesperson greeted and chatted with prospects in the living room, Luna would appear around the corner to say hello. Whenever walking homesites, Luna would accompany future residents and immediately put folks at ease and helped them envision their future home.

A FRIEND TO ALL

Everyone in Fearrington knew Luna. Employees often took a quick break to give her a kiss, a pet or treat. She stared deeply into all faces and expressed a loving understanding, somehow sending a message that accentuated the beauty that Fearrington conveys.

NEVER TO BE FORGOTTEN

For such a small creature, Luna lived large and leaves an immense empty space in which we are all left wondering how could such a special presence be gone forever? That's when we realize that she is still here, a small beige ghost, glimpsed still in all her favorite sunny spaces and making us smile with the sweet memory of her....
