At The Belted Goat
Italian Wine Survival Kit
Unsure of what wine to get for your festive soirée? Fearrington’s wine team is excited to offer three Holiday Survival Kits available for purchase at The Goat!
The Italian Deluxe Holiday Survival Kit features four bottles. This kit is valued at $105, but you can purchase it for only $89.99!
Le Vigne de Alice, “d’Oro”, Prosecco Superiore, Valdobbiadene, Italy
Named after the winemakers’ grandmother, the winery name translates to “The Vines of Alice.” The two women winemakers suggest serving this prosecco “with someone you love.” I suggest oysters, matzo ball soup, challah bread, apple pie, rugelach, and hot cross buns.
Bellus, Caldera, Falanghina, Campania, Italy
Bellus was created by Jordan Salcito, a former sommelier of Eleven Madison Park, who befriended other sommeliers and winemakers to help her bring on products that she couldn’t find. All wines made are organically grown (no chemicals in the vineyards) and practice sustainable agriculture — they even donate proceeds of this wine to Earth Justice. Consume with seafood gumbo, shrimp cocktail, fried fish, light salad preparations, sweet potatoes, squash fritters and corn on the cob.
Garofoli, Piancarda, Rosso Conero, Montepulciano, Marche, Italy
The Garofoli family has been in Le Marche since the 1870s and is currently on their fifth generation of winemakers. This Monetpulciano shows flavors of cherry, raspberry, plum, and herb. Enjoy this with a rack of lamb, ham, prosciutto wrapped asparagus and rosemary and garlic potatoes.
Tenuta Curezza, Nerosso, Salenteo Rosso, Puglia, Italy
Fourth generation winemakers in the “heel of the boot of Italy”, Puglia is known for Primitivo. This wine called Nerosso is a blend of 4 indigenous grapes, producing flavors of black pepper, black cherry, blackberry, plum, and violet. Spoil yourself with grilled pork loin, pork chops, roast pig, mushroom soup, beet salad and charred brussels sprout salad.
Borgo Moncalvo, Brachetto d’Acqui, Piedmont, Italy
Brachetto d’Acqui is one of the Piedmont’s best kept dessert wine secrets. A light, effervescent rose’ accentuates notes of strawberries, raspberries, and roses. Chill this wine and serve with fruit tarts, yule log with strawberries, angel food cake, and a raspberry and almond trifle.
You can purchase holiday wine survival kits at The Goat beginning Thursday, December 7th. Check out the Basic Survival Kit and the French Survival Kit too!
