Independent Bookstore Day, Children’s Book Week and more

This Saturday is, as proclaimed by Governor Roy Cooper, Independent Bookstore Day in North Carolina. Show us some love and show off your independence by visiting your local bookstore. We at McIntyre’s are marking the day with a blow out sale. 50% off select titles and gift items, Also around the Village this Saturday, a trunk show at Dovecote with Lisette L and Brian Moyer is playing music at Roost.

Coming up soon, our literary luncheon with Paula McLain, author of The Paris Wife and Circling the Sun. Her newest novel, Love and Ruin, revisits the life of stand out journalist Martha Gellhorn (and Hemingway wife #3). Also we are over the moon with the upcoming visit from David Sedaris. Tickets are $29.89 for a signed hardcover of Calypso, his first collection of essays in five years. We will be participating in Children’s Book Week this year and have some special story times and of course – May the 4th Be With You Star Wars Celebration.

This year’s theme is One World Many Stories. McIntyre’s will be sharing stories from around the world at story times on Tuesday, May 1st at 10:30 and Friday, May 4 at 10:30.
