NCPS Reading with Kathy Ackerman, Cal Nordt, and Khalisa Rae

Come out to join us for our monthly series joint sponsored by the North Carolina Poetry Society. July’s readers are Kathy Ackerman, Cal Nordt, and Khalisa Rae.

Kathy Ackerman has published six poetry books and chapbooks, most recently Repeat after Me. Her collection A Quarrel of Atoms won the Lena Shull Award in 2019. She lives on a loblolly tree farm in Polk County and has recently retired from a long career in higher education.

Cal Nordt is a 1972 Cum Laude graduate of Yale, where his senior thesis for a BA in English was a chapbook of his own poetry. After a thirty year career in trade show transportation, he became physically disabled and returned to writing. His first poetry book is Mystical Fictions.

Khalisa Rae is the author of Ghost in a Black Girl’s Throat (Red Hen Press). She is a 4-time Best of the Net nominee and Pushcart nominee. She is the co-founder of Griot and Grey Owl Blk Southern Writers Conference and the Theater and Literature Director at the North Carolina Arts Council. Unlearning Eden is forthcoming.
