March NCPS Poetry Society Reading with John Balaban, Melinda Thomsen, and John Amen

Our monthly poetry series cosponsored by the North Carolina Poetry Society continues…

John Balaban is the author of thirteen books of poetry and prose, including four volumes which together have won The Academy of American Poets’ Lamont prize, a National Poetry Series Selection, and two nominations for the National Book Award. His collected poems, essays, and translations, Passing Through a Gate, came out from Copper Canyon in May of 2024. 

Melinda Thomsen’s four poetry collections include  Dropping Sunrises in a Jar (2024)  from Finishing Line Press, and Armature, a finalist for the 2022 Eric Hoffer da Vinci Eye award.  A 2019 Pushcart Nominee from The Comstock Review, she teaches high school English in Greenville, NC.

John Amen is the author of five collections of poetry, including Dark Souvenirs, released by NYQ Books in May 2024. He was the recipient of the 2021 Jack Grapes Poetry Prize and the 2024 Susan Laughter Myers Fellowship. He founded and is managing editor of Pedestal Magazine.
