Free Wine Tasting – Sanctuary Vineyards
Swing by Galloway’s Wine & Beer Bar on the lower level of The Belted Goat between 1 pm – 3 pm to learn about different wines every week. Want to learn more about our weekly tastings? Check the Fearrington Village calendar for our wine events! This week: Sanctuary Vineyards from North Carolina.
Sanctuary Vineyards is located on a quaint seaside farm where you are likely to see rows of corn competing with Cabernet and migratory snow geese nesting among the Sangiovese. Ten acres of grapes are nestled among hundreds of acres of farmland and wildlife impoundments called “The Sanctuary.”
Owner & Vintner John Wright traveled the world at a young age and caught the wine bug early on. He convinced his family to let him develop some of their land in Eastern North Carolina for grape growing and winemaking. They still think he’s crazy for it, but Sanctuary has found success in an unexpected location due to John’s genius. The winds of the Jarvisburg site and sandy soils help mitigate the common North Carolina issues of humidity, drainage, and disease pressure. Sanctuary produces both sweeter and fruity wines for the beach going masses, and serious dry wines for the more refined palate. Our tasting will focus on their dry styles.
