Frances Mayes, Pasta Veloce Luncheon

pasta veloce menuJoin Frances Mayes and Susan Wyler for the release of their new cookbook, Pasta Veloce: Irresistibly Fast Recipes from Under the Tuscan Sun. We’ll be serving dishes straight from the cookbook on The Garden Terrace, and Frances will be in conversation with Susan after lunch.

ABOUT THE COOKBOOK
From the famed author of Under the Tuscan Sun, the most delicious Tuscan pasta recipes that can be made in the time it takes to b
oil water and for the pasta to cook.

Frances Mayes is known for transporting readers to the charming Italian countryside in her bestselling books. In Pasta Veloce, Mayes brings that irresistible Italian flavor right to your home with 100 of her favorite pasta recipes. These well-loved recipes blend traditional Italian technique with magic from the Mayes and Wyler home kitchens where experiments are always in progress.

Pasta is the most versatile food on Earth. And if you do it right: fast! Pasta Veloce offers a multitude of under-30-minute, luscious recipes, all accompanied by Mayes’s evocative text. While there are numerous pasta cookbooks, few feature a true Italophile’s passion and eye for detail that can get a dish to the table in, as Mayes describes, “the time it takes to boil water.” From a Tagliatelle with Duck Confit, Chestnuts, and Coffee Reduction to a glittering Capellini with Golden Caviar to the perfect vodka sauce, Pasta Veloce is your guide on those nights when you’re ready to skip the whole production of it but still want to eat like royalty in a rustic Italian village.

PRAISE

Pasta Veloce is one of those rare cookbooks that can make cooking at home not only a treat but a breeze. Go through this book and you will find so many delicious—and fast—recipes that the most difficult thing you’ll have to do is pick which one!”

Nancy Silverton, James Beard Outstanding Chef, owner of Osteria Mozza, and author of The Mozza Cookbook

“Frances Mayes takes us through the Italian kitchen with the same comfort and style with which she takes us through the cities and countryside of Italy. Susan Wyler adds her own fabulous veloce recipes that propel us toward the stove. The Ten-Minute Tomato Sauce has become my go-to for a quick dinner from the pantry, and the Sicilian Citrus Pesto is great not only on pasta but on anything from sliced tomatoes to grilled fish.”

Sara Foster, former chef for Martha Stewart, founder of Foster’s Markets, and published cookbook author

“What a brilliant concept—I picked up many tips to enhance flavors while cutting time spent at the stove. While Pasta Veloce brings home the ultimate comfort food, it also showcases its elegant, healthful, and spontaneous qualities.”

Suvir Saran, Michelin-starred chef and author of Indian Home Cooking and Masala Farm

“This collection of smart, seasonal recipes includes both cool takes on season extension and preservation but also recipes simple enough to hand off to the kids for a cook’s night off.”

Andrea Reusing, James Beard Award winner, owner of Lantern Restaurant, and author of Cooking in the Moment
