This is a must see – tucked into the Countryhouse townhouse neighborhood in Fearrington Village, I discovered this sweet little sanctuary…. The “Woodland Garden” was the brain child of resident Betty King, a self described “Botanist Nerd”.   When building within Fearrington Village, developer Fitch Creations Inc designates many natural green spaces to enjoy.   Such was this spot in the middle of the townhouses off of Wealdstone.   Betty has always enjoyed plants and the outside world, especially native gardens, her intention here was to create a small area of tight paths that allowed the plants to tickle you as you walked by, and a wall of natural forest to enable those within to feel that they are removed from civilization and that they are freely walking in infinite woods.   Betty tackled this project alone, it is her creation, funded and molded solely by her own passion in the hopes that it would spark a love of plants and gardening in the hearts of her fellow residents.   I thoroughly enjoyed reading the different plant labels, and “insights” writings throughout.   There are  journals filled with detailed descriptions of all the plants and one journal for visitors to leave their thoughts.   I encourage all to walk or ride your bike over and enjoy it.   This is one of many sweet surprises to discover within Fearrington Village.
