Catherine and Connor’s Fearrington Wedding
Catherine and Connor shared their wedding story, and it makes us so very happy to be able to share it with you. They married last December and shared their engagement story and details about their special day. We love holiday weddings and this one is no exception!
How did you and your partner meet?
We first met at an evangelism life application session hosted by our Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) class. Connor was a greeter and small group leader at BSF. As usual, he arrived early, dropped off his backpack at a table, and went to welcome people at the doors. When he returned from greeting, he realized four other leaders were already at the table, so he decided to find another group. An open seat a neighboring table that was short on leaders caught his attention. Particularly because it was right next to a cute, brunette. Yup, that’s a good seat for sure.
As the life session progressed, the table was talking about how to incorporate every day objects and situations into gospel conversations. An image of a tree was projected for the class to practice. Enter the cute brunette with some great Jesus/math themed flirting. Catherine took a glance at the tree and remarked how beautiful it was to see God’s intentionality in design through nature. Ok maybe not intended as a flirty comment, but having just watched a documentary on math in nature the previous weekend, Connor was swooned. A girl who both loves Jesus and math?! In that moment, his mind was settled to ask Catherine out for a lunch. As the event concluded, Connor prepared for rejection (there was no way she was still single…).
To his (and probably your) great surprise, she said her first yes! Two days later, Connor and Catherine had their first of many lunch dates to come.
P.S. We know you are itching to know the name of the documentary. Its called “The Code”, and yes its on Netflix for your viewing pleasure. We have both seen it. Its riveting 🙂
Tell us about the engagement?
We got engaged on March 1st, one year after we started dating. It was very cold and rainy day. We both had taken off work to spend the day together. Connor came to Catherine’s apartment and asked if they could pray together before they started off on a fun filled day. Catherine had no idea what the plan was for the day. At the end of the pray, Connor on one knee, proposed to Catherine. After the proposal, Connor took Catherine to the JC Arboretum where they walked around the botanical garden. Our relationship started after talking about trees so Connor wanted to be around nature to discuss what qualities we wanted to start our marriage off on. Next, we went to lunch and then to Mordeci Park where there is the oldest church in NC. At the historical park we set and talked about what we wanted our legacy to be as old and grey couple. The rest of the day was filled with our favorite things, hot chocolate, cooking salmon and 2-step dancing in the kitchen.
What made Fearrington the place for you to say “I do?’
Growing up my family had always gone to Fearrington to grab lunch, go for a long walk, to play with the cows, to visit the book store, to enjoy the gardens or to enjoy a weekend getaway. Fearrington is place that always brings back special memories of taking a 30-minute drive from Raleigh to get away and just be a family. Not to mention, Fearrington wedding planning and phenomenal. From the beginning to the end Fearrington made wedding planning easy and enjoyable. It was stress free because of how Fearrington’s staff communicated and helped with some many large and small details.
4. Describe the highlight moment of your wedding day.
The highlight of the wedding day was the ceremony. It was better than we could have imagined.
5. What was the biggest surprise of the day?
The biggest surprise of the day was the day started at 9am. Every hour until the first look at 1:30pm, Catherine was delivered a rose with a note tied it. Connor couldn’t see Catherine the morning of the wedding but wanted her to know that he loved her and was thinking of her. Each note contained a message about how he admired and loved her character.
What was your biggest surprise about wedding planning?
You chose how stressful you want the planning to be. I have always heard it is extremely stressful to plan a wedding. Don’t get me wrong there were stressful moments but overall it is how you look at the decisions. The wedding planning process can be fun and a great time to spend with those you love or don’t get to see often.
