We have a great doubleheader coming up this Saturday. At 11am, one of our favorite authors, Sarah Addison Allen, will discuss her latest novel, Paper Ghosts, with Patti Meredithin the Fearrington Barn.If fall has you in a quandary for what to read, this multi-generational ghost/ love story is sure to please.  "Satisfaction on every page." —Booklist (starred review)

Then at 2pm, Henry Wise returns with one of Pete's favorite books of the year, Promised Land, the sequel to his Edgar Award-winner for best first novel, Holy City. We are excited to welcome him back. Pete says, “What a talent! If Hemingway were alive today, these are the books he would be writing.”

Grandparents Day is this weekend!Join us on Sunday, September 13, from 2:00–3:30 p.m. for a Grandparents Day celebration designed to create memories together. Celebrate the special grandparents in your life with an afternoon of stories, creativity, animals, and family fun at McIntyre’s Bookstore in Fearrington Village!

2:00–2:30 p.m. — Storytime with Johanna Banana: Settle in for a special storytime to kick off the afternoon.

2:30–3:30 p.m. — Crafty Activities: Create a one-of-a-kind “Tell Me About You” book! Kids will use a ready-made booklet filled with fun questions to interview their grandparents, recording their answers and adding drawings along the way. Express your creativity and enjoy coloring our Fearrington Village scenes.

Turn your colored Village map into a passport! Visit the different spots around the property and collect a corresponding sticker or “passport stamp” at each stop.

Bring your grandparents, your curiosity, and your creativity for a memorable afternoon celebrating the stories, traditions, and special connections between generations. We can’t wait to celebrate with you!

Our Book Club Eventsare here next week. Thursday evening'sBook Club Night is almost sold out, but a healthy reserve remain for Friday am'sMorning Social. At both of these ticketed events, McIntyre's staffers will present their recommended books for book clubs and those who simply want to read a good book. We will have lots of giveaways and fun on tap. Our special visitor is our Knopf Doubleday branch of Penguin/ Random House rep Michael Triebwasser. Don't miss out!

On September 25th (9/25), we will take part in efforts across the country to raise money for Dolly Parton's Imagination Library. We will donate 9.25% of our sales to this cause. The Imagination Library is Dolly's organization that once a month sends books to pre-k children who would otherwise not have any. This group has sent out over 30 million books. and expanded beyond the US. If you can't join us, or would prefer to think globally while acting locally, you can always supportChatham Reads (an offshoot of our terrific Chatham Education Foundation) orChatham Literacy (a hard working group bringing all kinds of skills to adults and children alike in Chatham County).
