Gentle Reader, May 27, 2026 - Fearrington Village

May 28, 2026

Dear Gentle Reader,

Boy howdy!Summer is officially here as we just cleared the Memorial Day hurdle, andCraig Johnson is stampeding his way into Fearrington. It is always a pleasure to welcome back Craig, as we so look forward to his riding into town this weekend for histicketed event in the Barn this Saturday, May 30th at 11am.  Barn doors open at 10am. You and a friend can attend by simply buying a copy of The Brothers McKayfrom McIntyre's. “A complex, cerebral mystery with a plethora of suspects that demands out-of-the-box thinking and help from a heroic mule.” —Kirkus, Starred Review

Keebe says if you are starting your summer reading pile-- start with The Brothers McKay! She stayed up until 3:30am to finish this unputdownable story.

Then Sunday, May 31st at 2pm, the NC Poetry Society hosts its monthly reading with Scott Owens, Rob Merritt, and Lucinda Trew. An open mike session follows.

Next Wednesday, Margot Lester will be in the bookstore to host her monthly Writers Office Hours from 1:30 to 3:30pm. This is excellent and free writing help you should take advantage of if  stuck on a project. Margot can help with homework, projects, papers, even a dating profile. If you need your scribblings spiffed up, come to Margot-- don't AI it. People can tell…

It has come to our attention that another bookstore has opened up in Chapel Hill, and we would like to welcome them to the local literary ecosystem. Upstairs at 506 W Franklin Street is the only bookstore we are aware of that is dedicated to buying and selling books about music, May we present Read Band Books. We wish them much luck and say kudos for the best bookstore name ever!

The Usual Suspects,

Pete, Johanna, Sarah C., Tyler, Amy, Juliana, Sarah G. and Keebe
