Big weekend coming up! This Saturday, March 14th at 11am, we are honored to host a panel, Hear Us Now, Acclaimed Women Novelists on the Erasure of Women's Voices. In honor of Women's History Month, novelists Jill McCorkle, Nell Joslin, and Terri Lewis discuss the absence of women's voices in literature and history and how, in writing fiction, they've given voice to the overlooked and forgotten. Moderated by Caitlin Hamilton Summie, join us for an invigorating panel perfect for Women's History Month.
Then later Saturday at 2pm, Melissa Faliveno discusses her novel, Hemlock, with Gabrielle Calvocoressi. Hemlockis a carnal coming-of-addiction, a dark sparkler about rapture, desire, transformation, and transcendence in many forms. What lives at the heart of fear—animal, monster, or man? How do we contain a threat that may come from within? And how can we reject our own inheritance, the psychic storm that’s been coming for generations, and rebuild a new home for ourselves? This month we are lucky to host the NC Poetry Society twice. On Sunday, March 22at 2pm, we are hosting Dasan Ahanu, Morrow Dowdle, and Jay Bryan.Then Sunday, March 29th, Jameela Dallis, Cheryl Wilder, and Al Maginnestake the stage. Each reading will be followed by an open mike session.
We close the month with a visit from one of our favorite Irish writers, Steve Cavanagh, who is travelling from Belfast, Northern Ireland to tour for his latest Eddie Flynn thriller, Two Kinds of Stranger.
