Dear Gentle Reader,

To all who attended our storytellingsthis past weekend with the inimitable and beloved Donald Davis, we join Pete and wholeheartedly thank you. Over $5900 was raised through ticket sales and donations for CORA plus am extra 675 pounds of food for the food pantry. Chatham Reads had a table in the Barn as well, and came away with some new volunteers. The weekend left us feeling warm about our county and neighbors. Together we can make a difference!

This week and next, McIntyre's is operating on aspecial schedule. We will be open on Mondays and Tuesdays, but closing early at 4pm on the 24th and 31st (the Eves). We will remain closed through Wednesday, January 5th when we will reopen after completing inventory.

We kick off our 2026 schedule of readings with a visit from Rebecca  Beyer, a folklorist and forager from near Asheville, who will be here on Saturday, January 10th at 11am to talk about The Complete Folk Herbal: An Illustrated Guide to Natural Remedies and Everyday Healing. Keebe attended a foragng class taught by Rebecca this past October and enjoyed a delightfully instructive time. Check out this and our other events in January in the schedule below,
