At Fearrington House Restaurant, At The Belted Goat
The Fearrington Plate – April 24, 2025
The infamous Chocolate Soufflé at The Fearrington House is nothing short of legendary. Featured on the cover of Gourmet Magazine in the 1980s, it’s been a menu staple ever since—and for good reason. Over the years, it’s been gently perfected and is now gluten-free, while still delivering that rich, decadent flavor guests crave. Enjoy it as part of our main dining menu, chef’s tasting, or as a treat at The Fearrington Bar—because sometimes, you just need chocolate. And yes, it’s that good.

CASTILLO PERELADA ‘FINCA MALEVEÏNA’ MERLOT BLEND, EMPORDÀ, SPAIN 2019
“If you ever get a chance to visit Northeast Spain, Perelada is an absolute MUST stop, even better just stay there for your trip. Much more than a winery, the castle resort includes a Michelin restaurant, casino, spa, all in the heart of an old Spanish town. I’ve always thought their wines should be much more expensive and assume they just have enough other revenue to not worry about it. This single vineyard selection, Malaveïna (which translates to ‘Bad Neighbor’) is a Bordeaux quality blend based on Merlot that gives you dark dried fruits, earth tones, spice components, tobacco, plums, menthol, backed up by hefty structure that calls for a Spanish sausage stew.”
