    MARQUIS D'ANGERVILLE VOLNAY 1ER CRU 'FREMIET' 2017

    Elegant, savory and beautifully mature, this 100% Pinot Noir shows raspberry, red cherry and plum with violet, blood orange, earth and a subtle smoky note. The palate is medium-bodied and finely structured, with bright acidity, chalky tannins and a saline mineral finish that gives the wine both delicacy and persistence.

    Domaine Marquis d’Angerville is one of the historic benchmark estates of Volnay, with deep roots in the village and a reputation for precise, age-worthy Pinot Noir. Frémiet is a Premier Cru on the northern side of Volnay, close to Pommard, where thin, stony soils over limestone tend to produce a firmer, more structured expression than some of the village’s softer sites.

    The domaine’s parcel covers roughly 1.6 hectares on the mid-slope, and the 2017 vintage is now entering an excellent drinking window. The fruit has begun to soften and integrate while the wine still retains freshness, tension and plenty of mineral detail. This is a particularly compelling bottle for anyone looking to experience mature Burgundy with both elegance and a little extra structure.
