    LONG SHADOWS SAGGI SANGIOVESE 2021

    Rich, polished and deeply expressive, Saggi 2021 blends 62% Sangiovese, 26% Cabernet Sauvignon and 12% Syrah. Black cherry, wild berries and plum are layered with dried flowers, tobacco, cedar, leather and warm spice, while ripe tannins and bright acidity give the wine both weight and lift.

    Long Shadows was founded around the idea of bringing internationally respected winemakers to Washington, and Saggi was created in partnership with the Folonari family of Tuscany. The result is a distinctly Washington take on a Super Tuscan-style blend, with Sangiovese providing freshness and red-fruited character, Cabernet Sauvignon adding structure, and Syrah contributing darker fruit and spice.

    The wine is sourced from several Columbia Valley sites, including Sangiovese from Blue Mountain, Candy Mountain and Boushey Vineyard, and was aged for 18 months in French oak, about 55% new. Full-bodied and concentrated but still balanced, it is a compelling bridge between Tuscan inspiration and Washington richness, with enough structure to continue developing for years.
