    A polished, energetic take on Sangiovese, with cranberry, tart cherry and warm berry cobbler layered with dried rose petals, subtle spice and a touch of cracked pepper. Medium-bodied with firm but refined tannins and bright acidity, it finishes long and mouthwatering rather than heavy.

    Leonetti is one of the foundational names in Walla Walla Valley, founded in 1977 by Gary and Nancy Figgins and now led by the next generation of the Figgins family. The estate’s Sangiovese is especially meaningful to the family’s Italian heritage, and Leonetti describes it as one of their most challenging—and beloved—varieties to grow.

    The 2023 is 100% Sangiovese from Holy Roller, Loess, Mill Creek Upland and Seven Hills vineyards. It was aged for 22 months in a combination of French oak barrels and neutral oval botti, giving the wine extra polish and depth while preserving its fresh red-fruited character. A decant of a couple of hours will help it open beautifully now, though the structure suggests it should continue to develop well in the cellar.
