Dynamis Wine Dinner - Fearrington Village

Dynamis Wine Dinner

Fearrington looks forward to welcoming Katy Kidd & Matheson Worrell, the owner winemakers of Dynamis Estate, from Swan Creek, North Carolina. Their work represents a new chapter for Southern wine - one that challenges outdated perceptions and places North Carolina firmly in the conversation alongside America’s most exciting emerging wine estates. Chef Paul Gagne and Wine Director Troy Revell will be creating a custom five-course meal to pair with five estate wines, presented to you by the winemakers themselves! We hope you can join us.

DYNAMIS ESTATE

Dynamis Estate is helping rewrite the narrative around North Carolina wine. For years, the state carried a reputation for pleasant but forgettable bottles—more curiosity than serious contender. Dynamis is challenging that assumption head-on. Perched at 1,640 feet in the Swan Creek AVA, the estate combines rocky mountain soils, dramatic day-to-night temperature swings, and meticulous vineyard work to produce Bordeaux-inspired wines with real structure, depth, and age-worthiness. Every wine is estate-grown, hand-harvested, and crafted with an uncompromising focus on quality, from new French oak aging programs to low-intervention cellar practices. Rather than chasing novelty, Dynamis aims for world-class precision and elegance, proving that North Carolina can produce wines worthy of the same conversation as far more established American regions. The winery’s recent national recognition—including a nomination for Wine Enthusiast’s American Winery of the Year and multiple 95-point scores—signals that the rest of the wine world is beginning to notice as well.

KATY KIDD & MATHESON WORRELL

Winemakers Katy Kidd and Matheson Worrell are at the center of North Carolina's transformation. Both trained through North Carolina’s Shelton-Badgett viticulture and enology program, but their ambitions have always extended beyond making “good for North Carolina” wine. Kidd brings a background in fine dining and a sharp sensory approach shaped by sparkling wine production and Appassimento techniques, while Worrell refined his craft through work in Burgundy and wineries across the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic. Together, they approach the mountain vineyard with the mindset of serious European estates: site first, precision everywhere, compromise nowhere. Their wines are restrained rather than overworked, allowing the elevation, rocky soils, and long growing season to define the final expression in the glass. More importantly, they represent a new generation of North Carolina winemakers unwilling to accept mediocrity or regional stereotypes. Through Dynamis, Kidd and Worrell are proving that exceptional terroir exists in the Appalachian foothills—and that, in the right hands, North Carolina can produce wines with both authenticity and international-level pedigree.
