CORVEE PASSOCROCE LAGREIN 2020 - Fearrington Village

CORVEE PASSOCROCE LAGREIN 2020

Dark-fruited and velvety, this 100% Lagrein shows blackberry, blueberry and currant alongside cocoa, star anise, tobacco and a touch of violet. It has the depth and structure Lagrein is known for, but its mountain-grown freshness keeps it elegant and surprisingly easy to drink.

Corvée is a small winegrowing project in the dramatic Val di Cembra, where vineyards climb steep, terraced slopes in the Dolomites. Passocroce comes from the eastern slope of the historic Doss Caslìr site, where Lagrein grows in sandy, clay-rich soils formed from local porphyry.

The wine spends around 18 months on its lees in small French oak barrels followed by additional bottle aging. The result is rich and savory but balanced, with dark fruit and spice wrapped in a smooth, substantial texture. A great mountain red for the table, especially alongside cured meats, aged cheeses, braised dishes or grilled red meat.
