Gentle Reader – March 25, 2025
Dear Gentle Reader,
Our big announcement got pushed back a week, so keep your eyes peeled for our splash on Wednesday via @mcintyresbooks on Instagram.
This weekend we welcome the NC Poetry Society back on Sunday at 2pm for our monthly event. This month we host John Balaban, Melinda Thomsen, and John Amen.
Next Saturday, April 5th at 11am we are excited to receive Silvan Goddin and Jordan Tony for their book, Homegrown Handgathered. Now is the perfect time to bring your garden questions as your plantings take shape for these gardening superstars who live exclusively, for months at a stretch, off their garden’s bounty.
Then at 2pm, join us for a conversation between Jill Amber Chafin and Mimi Herman as they discuss Chafin’s thriller, Shaken.
This week is The Trans Rights Readathon, an annual call to action to readers and book lovers in support of Trans Day of Visibility (TDOV) on March 31st. During the week of 3/21-3/31 anyone can participate by reading and uplifting books written by and/or featuring trans, nonbinary, 2Spirit, and gender-nonconforming authors and characters. You can find more information and answer a survey for participants when you click here. Looking for something to read for the TRR? Find a list of recommendations below and a display at the bookstore!
The Usual Suspects,
Pete, Johanna, Sarah, Tyler, Amy, and Keebe
