GASTON CHIQUET SPECIAL CLUB 2016

An exquisite Special Club made up of 68% Chardonnay and 32% Pinot Noir from entirely premier cru sites in Dizy and Hautvillers. This Champagne presents with a delicate fine mousse, elegant florals, and a depth of toasted hazelnuts and quince preserves on the palate.

The Chiquet family's presence in Champagne dates back to 1746, when Nicolas Chiquet first planted vines in this region. By 1919, brothers Fernand and Gaston had established the first Chiquet Champagne house and joined the few at the time who grew and bottled their own Champagne. Gaston Chiquet began his own brand in 1935, which has continued to be the pinnacle of quality in the region to this day.

Chiquet does not employ any oak aging as they believe that fruit maturity and malolactic fermentation impart enough body and texture alone. This 2016 vintage was thus fermented with malo and aged in stainless steel, with 90+ months of lees aging and 6g/L dosage. This provides a beautifully rich, creamy texture and long finish that is still balanced by lively fruit notes.
