    Fresh, savory and beautifully aromatic, this 100% Syrah layers blackberry, raspberry and plum with violet, cracked black pepper, black olive and earthy spice. Medium-bodied with bright acidity and fine tannins, it has real depth of flavor without feeling heavy—more Northern Rhône in spirit than plush California Syrah.

    Pax Mahle is one of California’s benchmark producers for cool-climate Syrah, known for picking early and using a restrained, low-intervention approach in the cellar. This North Coast bottling brings together fruit from several vineyard sites, including Castelli-Knight Ranch, Griffins Lair, Hawks Butte and Alder Springs, creating an accessible introduction to the Pax style.

    The 2023 is fermented 100% whole cluster and aged for about 10 months in neutral French oak puncheons, then bottled unfined and unfiltered. The stems add peppery, herbal complexity while neutral oak keeps the fruit vivid and fresh. Juicy fruit, savory spice and lively acidity make this especially good with grilled lamb, roast chicken, sausages, hearty stews or mushroom dishes.
