ST. INNOCENT 'MOMTAZI' PINOT NOIR 2019

Dark-fruited, savory and beautifully structured, this Pinot Noir shows cherry, strawberry and darker blue fruit with rose petal, black tea, roasted spice and a subtle earthy, meaty edge. The palate is broader and more powerful than many Oregon Pinots, but still refined, with silky tannins and enough acidity to keep the wine balanced and energetic.
St. Innocent has worked with Momtazi Vineyard since 2006, sourcing fruit from steep, exposed blocks high on the hillside in the McMinnville AVA. The site sits around 680–760 feet in elevation, where thin soils, strong coastal winds and long sun exposure produce Pinot Noir with darker fruit, firmer structure and a distinctly savory character. The vineyard is also Demeter-certified biodynamic.
The 2019 was harvested on October 1 and produced in a relatively small quantity of just over 1,200 cases. With several years of bottle age now behind it, the wine has softened into a more layered, polished stage while retaining plenty of structure. It’s a compelling expression of Oregon Pinot Noir for drinkers who prefer a darker, more savory and substantial style rather than a delicate one.
