Fearrington Living
Second Oktoberfest Success!
On a beautiful clear and crisp October Tuesday our 2nd annual Oktoberfest spread itself out on the upper parking space of the Gathering Place and lawn of the Swim and Croquet Club! There were several food trucks to enjoy, including a German beer truck, and I even spotted someone going around handing out pretzels with mustard! Some of our resident musicians played cheerful tunes under a tent in the eating area of the Swim and Croquet Lawn. This was a great opportunity to learn about several different activity groups that take place in Fearrington Village. I spotted a Mahjong game going strong, Story Corps, Political groups, and Havurah to name a few with lots of amazing pastries and savory dishes with a Germanic twist. I love the fact that these groups are open to every one, even if it isn’t your jam and you just want to learn about something new. I was lucky enough to take a 6 week Mahjong class with a master player! Not only is it a cool game that really makes you think, but it was so much fun to meet new people. We also have some master bakers who not only offer classes, but sell their wares during the holidays – rumor has it there is an amazing Chocolate Babka one can purchase in December! The weather was perfect and the venue was easy to navigate and well organized. It is always so much fun to see neighbors enjoying each other in this beautiful community!
