One of our favorite colors this fall is a rich burgundy — Bordeaux, wine, oxblood, deep merlot — and we are seeing it across so many of the collections arriving at Dovecote.
It is easy to understand why. Burgundy has the depth and sophistication of a neutral, but with far more warmth and personality. It feels luxurious without being flashy and works beautifully with so many fall staples: camel, chocolate brown, navy, charcoal, black, cream, and denim.
It is also an incredibly flattering color. Deeper wine tones tend to work well across a wide range of skin tones because they add warmth and richness without overpowering. If you usually gravitate toward black or navy, burgundy is an easy way to introduce color while still keeping your wardrobe feeling polished and timeless.
We love it in everything from sweaters and jackets to trousers, scarves, and accessories — and especially mixed with texture, whether that is cashmere, wool, velvet, or leather.
