This weekend, spooky season takes hold with Ed Southern's appearance this Saturday, October 11th at 2pm. Ed has edited, The Devil's Done Come Back: New Ghost Tales from North Carolina, a collection of fifteen of North Carolina’s finest writers who reimagine and reclaim the stories of the ghosts who have haunted all corners of the state. He will be in conversation with Ross White, poet, professor of English and Comparative Literature at UNC, and executive director of the Bull City Press.
Our book club events are happening next week, so get your tickets now. We are hosting a wine and charcuterie shindig with book recs and giveaways on Thursday, October 16th at 6:30pm. You know, the good stuff! Thursday evening will feature our Hachette Book Group sales rep, Julie Isgrigg, who will also present some not-to-be-missed titles. Friday at 10:30am, Over coffee and pastry, we will continue the rec-a-thon with picks from our staff, giveaways, and a presentation by Linda-Marie Barrett for her new book, Creating a Salon: The Magic of Conversations that Matter. Each event is $10 to attend.
Next Saturday (October 18th) we are hosting a double header! At 11am, Sara Johnsonreturns with Bone Chilling, the next installment of adventures of Alexa Glock. a New Zealand forensic investigator. Then at 2pm, we are hosting a free graphic novel workshop for kidswith Tate Godwin.
And don't forget the last get together this year for the Our State Magazine Book Clubis on Wednesday, October 29th at 7pm. Wiley Cash hosts Elizabeth Kostova and Our State Editor in Chief Elizabeth Hudson for an evening of history, mystery and Dracula. Kostova wrote the phenomenal bestseller, The Historian.
