May 23, 2024

On May 22nd, McIntyre’s Books had the honor of attending the Chatham Education Foundation’s year end celebration. Kathy Havens, Program Director of Chatham Reads, presented McIntyre’s with CEF’s Inaugural Champion Award!

Chatham Reads supports a variety of literacy programs across the county. For several ye

ars McIntyre’s has been a drop-off point for book donations and a host for book drives. But in the last year we found bigger and better ways to contribute to more projects. With each project we invited you, our customers, to participate too. We hope that you learned something new about the great work being done in our community and felt empowered to join in!

CHATHAM READS

We’re committed to collecting book donations year-round and maintaining wishlists o

nline and in-store for Chatham Reads. We offer discounts on books CEF purchases for their programs and to any of our customers buying new books for donation!

We know that the donations you made at McIntyre’s were rewarding to you too! As readers and book lovers we take joy in gifting a story that we know a young reader will love and enjoy. We worked closely with Kathy Havens of Chatham Reads to choose the best, most appropriate, and FUN books for young readers; ensuring that every student could find a great read at the Books on Break free book fair. Chatham Reads also distributes book donations to the CORA food pantry, the Chatham Youth Development Center, to educators, and to Little Free Libraries throughout the county.

We’re so honored to have this recognition! And we are beyond grateful that we have a special place in this vibrant literary community. We’re already thinking about more ways McIntyre’s Books can support Chatham Reads; here’s to another great year of collaboration!
