The Fearrington InnSider – Late Spring in Bloom: A Garden Walk Through Fearrington Village

There’s a special kind of beauty that arrives in late spring at Fearrington—a moment when the gardens feel especially alive and inviting. Right now, hydrangeas are beginning to bloom in soft blues, purples, and pinks, creating a picture-perfect welcome as you arrive at The Fearrington House. The front gardens have become one of my favorite places to pause—every year it feels like seeing them for the first time.

Tucked just beyond the Inn, our cutting garden is also in full swing. It’s here that we grow many of the seasonal flowers used in the fresh arrangements found throughout the property—from the guest rooms to the spa to the dining tables. Peonies, hydrangeas, zinnias, and dahlias grow in neat rows, a cheerful and ever-changing palette of color that reflects the rhythm of the season. I always find something inspiring when I visit—it’s one of the quiet joys of this time of year.

What makes our gardens so special is how they weave into the entire Fearrington experience. Whether you’re here for Afternoon Tea on the front porch, enjoying a leisurely lunch at The Belted Goat, shopping in Dovecote, Nest, or Sprout, or settling in for a four-course dinner in the main dining room, the gardens are all around you—framing your visit in fragrance, color, and charm.
