Fearrington News
Welcome Harvey!
Stop by and welcome Fearrington’s latest folk art addition! This is one very smart bunny and he sits in a sunny spot just outside McIntyre’s Books. “Harvey” comes to us from Josh Coté, a fantastically talented folk artist who is also part of our annual folk art show. Take a look at some of his work – it’s sure to inspire and fascinate. Harvey has been here only a few days and already he is becoming something of a celebrity. Everybody wants a picture with this guy.
Have you noticed those whirligigs that greet visitors as they pull into Fearrington? Take a closer look next time you visit – you’ll see spinning cows and little horses and all sorts of moving parts. Those whirligigs were made by Vollis Simpson. Mesmerizing, huh? Be sure to visit the Whirligig Park in Wilson, NC and you can feast your eyes on many more of Simpson’s creations. It’s good for the soul.
What’s that you say? You didn’t know about our folk art show? It started 18 years ago when RB Fitch – Fearrington’s owner and developer – brought a group of some of the best folk artists in the country to the barn. It’s become an annual event that we all look forward to and it is hands-down the most fun you can have in a weekend. Some artists come from far-flung places like Katy, Texas and Providence, Rhode Island while others hail from right here in Pittsboro. No matter where they come from, the folk art that graces the walls and aisles of the barn is true happiness.
Come out and visit. Harvey will be here, reading his book and ready to share a warm seat in the sun.
