TRUST ME…YOU’LL LOVE THIS: the newness of green

I recently returned from NY market scouting out great finds for Spring 2020, and one of the fun take-aways is a glimpse of trending color for the coming season. For our color-craving customers, if you are liking the vibrant Fall palette this season, you are going to LOVE the color on tap for Spring!

Mannequin in Monet jacket

Dramatic “Monet’s Garden” swing jacket accented with an Atlantis cashmere scarf at the neck, a stunning Marian Paquette Italian silk velvet clutch and Miguel Ases statement earrings. Dress this ensemble down with jeans, or up with black cigarette pants

While flame, saffron, and classic blue are in almost every designer’s collection, green is the hue that’s catching my eye. We’ve seen touches here and there in European collections the last last few seasons (they are always out front when it comes to trends), but its popularity has definitely crossed the pond for Spring 2020. In the spectrum of greens on the radar ranging from emerald to seafoam, I am especially drawn to a shade the color forecasters at Pantone have labeled “Biscay Green” as it flatters so many skin tones.  Apparently, I was “feeling green” last February when placing our orders for Fall19 as you will see already see pops of this color throughout the shop. Some run a little greener, some a little bluer – so it is easy to find a shade that is perfect for your complexion.

The Fall19 palette is rich with colors you would typically expect to see in Spring, but the degree of saturation is making them feel right for this season – as in Marian Paquette’s gorgeous handmade velvet bags. Her fresh, cheerful palette of “clear color” translates so differently in velvet as opposed to a summer silk, giving her bags a sumptuous bohemian feel – perfect for Fall – and great with everything from jeans to a cocktail dress. While the color and pattern of each bag varies, there is a splash of “that green” in almost every combination.

Our tissue weight Atlantis green KAS scarf pictured with a Marian Paquette velvet clutch and an Aventurine green flower necklace from Ann Lightfoot who will be in the shop Oct 10-13th with a trove of treasures!

Our hand-loomed tissue weight “Atlantis” green scarf from Nepal by our friends at KAS is a flattering option next to the face in the neck of a coat or sweater.  Fully extended into a single layer, it becomes an elegant gossamer-like wrap. I am picturing this over a simple cocktail dress with a pair of glamorous green statement earrings from Miguel Ases and the Marian Paquette velvet clutch I just spoke of. Or with jeans and a tee adorned with Ann Lightfoot’s blue-green Aventurine flower necklace. (Btw – Ann has incorporated lots of fabulous green options in her Fall collection which she will be sharing with us in the shop next week!)

For more warmth, our heavier 40 X 80 hand-loomed KAS cashmere wrap in “Cockatoo” is a super luxurious way to bring in this color. The weight of this scarf is incredible – light as air but nicely warm. I often use these wraps as a substitute for a coat when running errands or walking my dog – not to mention a must for travel. So easy to take on and off and to stow in my tote when not in use. While their neutrals are important staples, KAS color is stunning!
