Living
Meet Mark and Jan
Mark Kolber and Jan Doolin have been residents of the Woods neighborhood here in Fearrington since 2012. We asked them what they love most about living at Fearrington – here’s what they shared about their experience.
What persuaded you to move to Fearrington? My parents lived in Fearrington for 18 years and my husband and I visited all the time and fell in love with the area. My parents lived about a mile from where we now live.
What about the WOODS neighborhood appealed to you when deciding between Fearrington’s neighborhoods? We love the Woods as we came to Fearrington after living 20 years in Denver with few trees and scarce water. Now we have lots of trees and water! The diversity of trees is so appealing to us. Our back sundeck looks over the dense woods and it’s like a tree house!
What do you love most about Fearrington? The people. Everyone has chosen to live in Fearrington. They come from all walks in life, from all over the world. Such a highly-educated community with lots of great clubs and something to do every day and evening! We play tennis here, and my husband plays golf every week with a Fearrington group. I belong to a Poetry Group and a Non-Fiction Book Club and I teach two yoga classes every week in Fearrington. You can be as busy or relaxed as you like. We are, by choice, VERY busy!
What is one of your fond memories of living at Fearrington? We love Halloween in Fearrington. A big celebration with pumpkin carvings, great food and drinks, and so many kids and adults in costumes. It’s just a fun, fun holiday here! Fall in Fearrington is the best, although every season is wonderful here. We like having all 4 seasons. Winters are brief, and the summers are nice and long…
