Living
Meet Jim Brooking
Mr. Brooking has been a Fearrington resident since 2005. We asked why he chose Fearrington and what he loves about his neighborhood.
What persuaded you to move to Fearrington?
I had been living in southwest Durham near RTP. It was a small house convenient to my wife’s office at Quintiles. After she died in 2003 I decided I wanted a more serene locale for my home and finally moved here in 2005.
What about the Phase IV neighborhood appealed to you when deciding between Fearrington’s neighborhoods?
I liked the contemporary look and feel of these houses, which I understand your uncle Jon (the late Jon Condoret, sales team member Nathalie Condoret’s uncle and Fearrington’s architect for many years) designed. The prices were right, and I love living in the woods with the four-footed creatures that live in the woods near me.
What do you love most about Fearrington?
The variety of home sites and styles is unique in my experience. The fact that RB Fitch and many of his employees live here make his development decisions rational and focused on quality of life rather than a quick buck. And the diversity of friendly, talented, and intelligent people make this an unusually desirable place to live
What is one of your most fond memories of living at Fearrington?
Good friends and neighbors.
