Meet Jim & Judy
We featured Jim and Judy Copland last year in, but we couldn’t resist re-posting with a bit of additional information. Since they moved to Fearrington in 2016, Jim has been hard at work creating a Fearrington light rail system…in miniature. It’s so much fun we had to share.
And here’s a bit more about the Coplands from last year’s post:
Jim & Judy Coplan have been Fearrington residents since 2016. We asked them what they loved most about living at Fearrington – here’s what they shared about their experience.
What persuaded you to move to Fearrington?
After researching and visiting potential retirement locations from Maine to Florida, we were drawn to Fearrington Village because of its sense of community. The residents here are an eclectic, do-it-yourself bunch of people, all of whom have been highly accomplished in their former lives. They infuse Fearrington Village with a welcoming, can-do attitude that we find very appealing. We were also drawn to the physical setting: There is a real “here” here – unlike so many places that seem artificial. Finally, we were drawn to Fearrington Village because of its proximity to cultural and medical resources.
What about the Millcreek neighborhood appealed to you when deciding between Fearrington’s neighborhoods?
We chose Millcreek Circle because we had decided to build our own home, and found the location ideal.
What do you love most about Fearrington?
We are thrilled with the new friendships we are forming with our fellow Fearringtonians!
What is one of your fond memories of living at Fearrington?
Since we’ve only lived here for 2 months, it may be a bit premature to speak of “fond memories,” but we are proud of the fact that we threw a dinner party for 2 other couples on New Years Eve – a mere 2 days after moving into our new home. (With such congenial company, we felt no need to worry about the boxes piled all around.) We toasted in the New Year with four new friends.
