Gentle Reader – July 30
Dear Gentle Reader,
Big event this Saturday! We have been anxiously waiting for this Saturday to arrive as we have been waiting to introduce Juliet Grames’ latest, The Lost Boy of Santa Chionia. Join us at 11am, August 3rd to hear Juliet discuss this terrific novel. This is one of those rare books that Pete, Sarah, and Keebe all love (and getting three booksellers to agree on anything is a big deal). Here’s what Pete has to say, “Set in an isolated Italian village, this book is so rich in detail, so deep in characterization, that it’s like eating dessert in a fine restaurant: savoring each bite, letting it linger on the palate. Easily one of my favorite books of the year so far.”
Than Saturday, August 17th, we have a double header. Kicking off the day’s events at11am, Frances Mayes returns with a new novel, A Great Marriage, and then at 2pm,HeatherAsh Amara discusses Wild, Willing, and Wise: When to Paddle, When to Rest, and When to Jump Naked into the River of Life.
There’s still a few weeks before Labor Day, when school and the upcoming election will kick into high gear. Don’t let all that craziness pull you away from now– enjoying this time, in this moment. Take that weekend at the shore or that Sunday in your hammock with a good book.
All the best from the Usual Suspects,
Pete, Johanna, Sarah, Tyler, Beth, and Keebe
